Under what conditions can Ukraine abandon the occupied territories: Zelensky's statement

Twitter LinkedIn

President Vladimir Zelensky answered the question whether there are currently discussions in the Presidential Office about the possibility of ceding lands in order to achieve a long-term and fair peace in Ukraine.

This information was reported by Le Monde, as reported by URA-Inform.

< p> He said that no official has the authority to manage Ukrainian territories. According to Zelensky, only the people of Ukraine can decide this.

«You must understand that any issue of territorial integrity of Ukraine is an issue that cannot be decided by the president or any person in the world, or all the presidents of the world without the Ukrainian people. This is impossible. This contradicts the Constitution of Ukraine. And therefore this issue is exclusively ours, of an internal nature,», — the Ukrainian leader said.

The head of state also stressed that this issue can only be considered when someone officially raises it.

«You know, someone recently said: «How do you like the idea that Ukraine is giving up its territories and will get something instead – what security guarantees, maybe NATO, maybe the EU, etc.?» And therefore there may be many such messages, but you should know that no one has officially offered anything to Ukraine. And Ukraine will never give up its territories. It has no right officially, the government, to give up its territories.

As Vladimir Zelensky assured, in order for Ukraine to cede its territories, the Ukrainian people need to want it during the referendum.

Recall that earlier it was reported that Syrsky made a decision on a counteroffensive: an insider revealed where they will attack.
