Quarantine introduced in Kyiv: details

Twitter LinkedIn

Quarantine is introduced in Kyiv in connection with the detection of a dangerous tree pest.

This information was reported by the Official Portal of Kyiv, reports “URA-Inform”.

The Department of Environmental Protection and Adaptation to Climate Change of the Kyiv City State Administration reported that, based on the submission of the Department of Phytosanitary Safety of the Main Directorate of the State Food and Consumer Service in the city of Kyiv, about the discovery of a dangerous tree pest — emerald ash borer — quarantine is introduced in the capital.

It is noted that the pest poses a danger exclusively to trees, so no restrictions on visiting green areas or walking pets on their territory are expected. Quarantine measures apply to the entire territory of the capital and, in particular, provide for:

— visual inspection of trees to determine the presence of a quarantine organism;

— sampling and sending them for phytosanitary examination;

— implementation of phytosanitary procedures, in particular, treatment of infected trees under the influence of mechanical, chemical or thermal factors;

— in cases where technical processing cannot ensure the appropriate level of phytosanitary protection — sanitary disposal of the detected damaged trees.

It is reported that the quarantine will be introduced by the relevant order of the KGVA, which comes into force on the day following the day of its publication in the official printed publication and on the official Internet page of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

Recall that earlier it was reported that a rare find from the 18th century was accidentally discovered in Kyiv: an archaeologist told the details (photo).
