How to quickly end the war in Ukraine without bloodshed and truce: Portnikov found the answer

Ukrainian author Vitaly Portnikov has put forward a strategy for ending the conflict in Ukraine, which, in his opinion, will require minimal efforts from Western countries.

Portnikov reported this information in an interview with the program “Velikiy Lvov”, reports “URA-Inform” .

Portnikov argues that an effective resolution of the war is possible thanks to NATO. In his opinion, if the Alliance accepts Ukraine into its ranks, excluding temporarily occupied zones, but providing security guarantees, this could weaken Russian motivation to continue hostilities.

Portnikov believes that if Putin realizes the impossibility of further seizure territories, he will lose interest in continuing the war.

The political observer recalled his previous proposal, made back in 2022, which repeated the ideas previously put forward by Pavlo Klimkin. Portnikov believes that the end of the conflict is possible through providing Ukraine with security guarantees from NATO, as well as from the United States and other nuclear countries of the Alliance.

This proposal implies the protection of those Ukrainian territories that are controlled by Kiev, or those that Russia does not claim, if the West fears a direct clash with Moscow.

Portnikov noted that if Russia does not demand the entire territory of Ukraine, with the exception of four regions and Crimea, then security guarantees could be extended to the remaining Ukrainian lands. He is confident that this proposal could not only stop the escalation of the conflict, but also lead to its end.

The publicist believes that if Russia understood that it is impossible to seize Ukraine completely without a direct clash with NATO, this could become a reason for ending military actions. In his opinion, Russia is using the annexed territories as a strategic platform for expanding its aggressive ambitions.
