In terms of ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Major General Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, announced Ukraine's strategic goals, which outline a new outline of its future.
Budanov reported this information in an interview with Forbes, reports “URA-Inform”.
Budanov clearly outlined the main goal: the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine within the 1991 borders. He calls this ambitious aspiration not only realistic, but also the most achievable result, given the complexity of the current circumstances.
In his opinion, a full return to the country's historical borders is the most tangible goal facing Ukraine.
However, as Budanov noted, the understanding of victory is not limited to simply restoring the old borders.
“What does it mean to ‘defeat Russia’? This is a multi-faceted question. We can consider restoring the 1991 borders, strive for internal changes in Russia, or even promote its split,” he said.
Budanov emphasized that for him, a final victory means not only a return to the 1991 borders, but also potential changes within Russia. He hopes that successful actions by Ukraine could provoke internal changes in the neighboring country, which, in turn, could change the geopolitical map.
Budanov’s predictions for the future of the conflict suggest a comprehensive approach to ending the war, combining military action with overt and covert diplomacy. He believes that the key to success lies in a competent combination of all these elements, which will create conditions for more sustainable peace and security.
Recall that in the Russian Federation they started talking about changing the goal of the “SVO”: where they want to go.
