Specialists answered whether the abuse of sweets can lead to diabetes.

This information was reported by Ukr.Media, reports “URA-Inform”.

They noted that the causes of diabetes are much more complex , than excessive sugar consumption.

Doctors emphasized that type 1 diabetes occurs as a result of an autoimmune lesion of the pancreas, in which its insulin-producing cells die. This is in no way related to the consumption of sweets.

Type 2 diabetes almost always has a genetic predisposition – a person inherits a gene that can lead to this disease. Usually, the gene's action begins to manifest itself when you are overweight, but it does not happen when you are normal.
