Putin's arrest: Mexico officially responded to Ukraine's request

Administration newly elected Mexican President Sheinbaum sent invitations to all heads of state that maintain diplomatic relations with Mexico. Putin was also invited.

< p>Ukraine has asked Mexico to arrest Putin under international criminal law if the Russian dictator attends the inauguration of Mexico's new president on October 1.

«We hope the Mexican government knows that Vladimir Putin is a war criminal with a warrant out for his arrest,»the Ukrainian embassy said in a statement, which claimed that Putin is suspected of giving the order to kidnap Ukrainian children and take them to Russia.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, in turn, refused on Thursday arrest Vladimir Putin if he flies to Mexico for the inauguration of the new president, Claudia Sheinbaum, in October.

“We can't do this. It's not our business,” the newspaper quotes the Mexican president as saying at a regular government press conference.
