Ukrainians warned of new waves of power outages: when to expect restrictions

Extreme temperatures are returning to Ukraine.

This information was reported by Ukrenergo, which was quoted by URA-Inform.

Ukrenergo noted that with the beginning of the new week, the territory of Ukraine will be in a field of low pressure. At the same time, a warm air mass will come from the southeast, which will bring high temperatures, especially in the south and southeast up to +35 °C, and in some places up to +37 °C.

That is why next week Ukrenergo specialists expect a deficit in the energy system and a 10-12% increase in electricity consumption. As noted by the company's press service, to cover such a level of consumption, it would be necessary to use an additional volume of capacity equal to the operation of several large power plants. But there is no additional capacity in the system.

“In the event of a significant increase in consumption, the Ukrenergo Dispatch Center will take all necessary measures to balance the energy system and compensate for the deficit. In particular, it will attract emergency assistance from European countries. If necessary, it will apply measures to limit consumption,” the statement said.

The press service also recalled that the Ukrainian energy system is still being restored after 8 massive missile and drone attacks by the Russians, which they carried out from March to July 2024. As a result, the energy sector lost more than 9 GW of generation. At the same time, the enemy shells the energy infrastructure daily, especially in the frontline and border regions.

It was also previously reported whether there is a threat of enemy shelling from the sea: the military surprised with a report.
