Celebrating Independence Day Ukrainian boxing world champion Oleksandr Usyk presented Volodymyr Zelensky with a very symbolic gift – the WBC championship belt. The meeting was also attended by the winners of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
This was reported by URA-Inform, with with a link to the Telegram channel “Ukraine 365”.
Usyk told the president that he won this belt in a fight with British boxer Tyson Fury.
“This belt is real, the very same , which we took from our “fat friend” from London,” Usyk said, jokingly referring to Fury.
The boxer noted that the belt depicts the championship portraits of both himself and the legendary Muhammad Ali, the founder of WBC versions. President Zelensky, surprised by such a gift, expressed concern that Usyk may have spent his entire life winning this belt and is now simply giving it away. In response, Usyk confidently assured the president that he will win a new belt in the next fight.
It's also worth remembering that Fury found out how Usyk was able to defeat him.
