The coming days will be decisive in the question of whether Ukraine will be able to stop the advance of Russian troops in Donbas. This was stated by military analyst Alexander Kovalenko. In his opinion, the current situation on the front has reached a critical point.
This was reported by URA-Inform, with reference to the YouTube channel Seychas.
Kovalenko emphasized that if Russian forces capture Grodovka and Novogrodovka during this week, then already in early September the enemy could launch a full-scale offensive on cities such as Pokrovsk and Mirnograd.
“Russia's success at this stage could be a harbinger of further strengthening of the occupiers' positions in eastern Ukraine. However, there is an alternative scenario. If Russian troops fail to capture Grodovka and Novogrodovka by September, Ukraine will have a real chance to stop the Russian offensive in this section of the front,” Kovalenko believes.
It is worth noting that Grodovka-Novogrodovka has certain relief and landscape features that can play a key role in defense. These features include both natural and artificial barriers, which provide good conditions for deterring the enemy. However, how exactly these opportunities will be used depends on Ukrainian military commanders and their decisions on the ground.
The military expert believes that the outcome of the current situation will largely determine the further dynamics of the conflict. He noted that there are still chances for a successful defense, and their implementation could change the course of hostilities in Donbas.
At the same time, we should not forget about the situation in the Kursk region. It has become known that Syrsky is preparing a new operation in Kursk region.
