Military expert Oleg Zhdanov believes that Ukrainians are hoping for more active support from the United States in achieving victory over Russia, but the American leadership is pursuing other goals.
The corresponding statement was made on the YouTube channel “Fabrika Novostey”, which is referred to by “URA -Inform”.
According to Zhdanov, for the West, especially for the United States, a split in Russia after a defeat in the war may seem a dangerous scenario. Therefore, they seek a gradual and controlled regime change in Moscow, rather than a complete destruction of the country.
Zhdanov argues that the United States is pursuing its own strategy for managing the conflict in Ukraine and is limiting the possibilities for decisive action against Russia.
“I don't think we'll get permission to use ATACMS at their maximum range,” the expert said, expressing pessimism about providing Ukraine with full-scale military aid.
He added that the U.S. actions are aimed at preventing Russia from collapsing, fearing the consequences of such a scenario.
The expert also pointed to the U.S. financial policy towards Russia as one example of this approach. According to him, the Americans are not interested in Ukraine's victory in the full sense, but are rather trying to weaken Russia while maintaining control over the situation. “The Americans are trying to replace the political elite in Russia,” Zhdanov explained.
