Is Lavrov Alive? The Internet Is Actively Discussing the Possible Death of the Russian Foreign Minister

Twitter LinkedIn

Yesterday, August 31, rumors about the possible death of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov were actively spreading online. The messages caused a stir after the post of Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN Sergey Kyslytsya on the social network X (formerly known as Twitter).

URA-Inform reports on this situation, citing Kyslytsya's corresponding post on X.

Kyslytsya used a phrase in his message that hinted at Lavrov's death:

“Some say that he has already passed away, but still, I would like Lavrov to live to see the trial.”

The diplomat used the English idiom “kicked the bucket”, which means “to die”. This post immediately sparked discussion and speculation online about the possible death of the Russian diplomat.

In reality, there is no evidence of Lavrov's death. Most likely, these are just rumors. At the time the rumors were spreading, fresh comments from Lavrov himself were appearing in Russian Telegram channels and media. In particular, he stated that Russia does not plan to hold talks with Ukraine on issues related to the Kursk region.

Thus, rumors about the death of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, apparently, remain just speculation and have no confirmation.

Recall that the Russian Federation is preparing for a new step after Ukraine: the Czech Republic announced a forecast.
