The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has adopted new measures concerning the issuance of cash in supermarkets and retail chains. According to the innovations, only high-quality and flawless banknotes will be issued to customers at the checkout. All worn or suspicious banknotes must be handed over to banks.
This was reported by URA-Inform, citing the press service of the NBU.
According to the new regulation, retail outlets are required to provide cardholders with only payment banknotes and coins that do not raise doubts about their authenticity and suitability. This decision is aimed at preventing the distribution of worn-out and improper banknotes among customers.
Worn-out banknotes that do not meet standards must be withdrawn and handed over together with cash proceeds to servicing banks. This will preserve the quality of cash in circulation and ensure its proper use.
In addition, the NBU established that enterprises can store cash proceeds in their cash desks outside working hours within the established limit. If the amount of cash exceeds this limit, the surplus must be credited to the enterprises' accounts with payment service providers.
Since the beginning of the war, the “cash at the checkout” service allows customers to receive cash when purchasing goods, which is especially important in a crisis. The maximum amount of cash that can be received varies depending on the policies of supermarkets and stores, but is no less than 500 hryvnia.
We also reported that Ukrainian pensioners will receive additional payments in September: the Pension Fund of Ukraine reported who exactly and what kind.
