It was previously discovered in Germany an unknown piece of music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, written in his teenage years.
This was reported by URA-Inform, citing The Guardian.
The manuscript is kept in one of the libraries in Leipzig and is called Ganz kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Music for the Night). It dates from the mid-to-late 1760s and consists of seven short movements for string trio, lasting a total of about 12 minutes.
The work was was found by researchers in the city's music library while preparing the latest edition of the Köchel catalogue, which is the definitive archive of Mozart's musical works. Interestingly, the newly discovered manuscript was not written by the composer himself, but is a copy made around 1780. It was a single copy, and the author's name confirms that the work was created before Mozart's first trip to Italy.
Ganz kleine Nachtmusik has already been performed at the presentation of the new Köchel catalogue in Salzburg, and its German premiere is planned for Saturday at the Leipzig Opera.
