High Representative EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Secretary Josep Borrell said that peace in Ukraine is only possible if the key provisions of the UN Charter are respected. He clarified how the EU will proceed in terms of resolving the conflict.

During the meeting of EU foreign ministers in New York, Borrell recalled that it is Russia that is the aggressor in this conflict, and stressed that a decision on peace can be based only on respect for international law.
According to him, Russia is waging a war of conquest, and the Ukrainians have become victims of aggression, which requires the EU to increase assistance, both military and energy.
« As winter approaches, Ukraine's energy crisis could worsen. Putin continues to destroy the facilities responsible for generating electricity and heat in the country. Such actions are aimed at breaking the Ukrainian people by depriving them of heat and light during the winter,” — Borrell emphasized.
