Former US President Donald Trump, who is at the center of political discussions, does not plan to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to the United States.
This was reported by URA-Inform, citing the Associated Press.
An anonymous source within the Trump campaign said no such meeting had been planned. Ukrainian officials, however, have previously said Zelensky wanted to meet with the former president.
“There was no meeting planned between Trump and Zelensky, despite the intentions of the Ukrainian side,” the source noted.
Such a misunderstanding and Trump’s cold position towards Zelensky is perceived by some experts as an insult to the Ukrainian leader.
Against the backdrop of the refusal, Trump spoke in Georgia, where, according to the AP, he mocked Joe Biden's current policy on support for Ukraine. The ex-president was critical of the idea that the US would support Kyiv “until complete victory,” which became one of the key themes of the current president's speeches.
