Former US President, Republican Party candidate Donald Trump harshly criticized Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, accusing him of refusing to make a deal to end the war with Russia. In his speech, Trump said that such a deal could have prevented the “destruction of Ukraine”, but Zelensky allegedly refused to compromise.
Trump's position is reported by URA-Inform, citing CNN.
According to Trump, many cities in Ukraine “no longer exist” due to the total destruction, and at the same time the United States continues to provide Ukraine with huge amounts of financial aid.
“We continue to send billions of dollars to someone who refused to make a deal. Even the worst deal would be better than what is happening now,” Trump emphasized.
In addition to criticizing Zelensky, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the administration of President Joe Biden, as well as Vice President Kamala Harris, who, in his opinion, excessively support Kyiv. The former president made it clear that if he returns to the White House, he will stop financial aid to Ukraine, considering this decision more correct for the United States.
Trump also placed some responsibility for the war on Biden and Harris, saying that with a “competent leader” the conflict could have been avoided. He emphasized that, as president, he had a good relationship with Vladimir Putin, having communicated with him on various topics on numerous occasions.
