They help keep the body moving and can even reduce the risk of developing various types of cancer.

This is the conclusion reached by scientists from the University of Sydney. For 7 years, they observed the activity of 22 thousand people who did not go to the gym and did not exercise regularly. Each participant wore a device for measuring their physical activity.

During the study, cancer was diagnosed in 2,300 participants, whose average age was 62. The study found that just 3.5 minutes of intense physical activity daily reduced the risk of cancer by 18%. This type of activity, known as VILPA (short bursts of intense activity), is similar to interval training.

Professor Emmanuel Stamatakis, one of the study's authors, noted that daily house cleaning, such as vacuuming, mopping or windows, as well as gardening, can reduce the likelihood of developing cancer by 32%.
