Chernobyl is home to one of the most dangerous objects on the planet, the so-called “Elephant's Foot”.

This information is reported by Dailymail, quoted by “URA-Inform”.

This is a mass of solidified radioactive lava formed after the disaster at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986. It consists of molten reactor materials, including nuclear fuel, concrete and steel.

Immediately after the accident, the radiation level from the Elephant's Foot reached 10,000 roentgens per hour — a lethal dose for a person in a matter of minutes. Five minutes near this object could lead to death within two days.

Just 300 seconds in a room with the so-called Elephant's Foot will leave you with only two days to live, the article says.

Despite the decades that have passed, the Elephant's Foot remains extremely dangerous. Background radiation remains high, and being near this object can cause serious health consequences. Although the nuclear material is gradually cooling, it will remain a threat for many years to come.

Even 10 years after the accident, scientists were having difficulty taking pictures of the object – high levels of radiation greatly distorted the film.

It will also be interesting to know that the model was kicked out of the plane because of her appearance: what she looks like (photo).
