Windows are the main source of heat loss in the house, so their proper insulation is an important task.

For this, you will need only one simple item – cling film. Even the highest quality windows can eventually begin to let in cold air due to wear of seals, poor tightness or other factors. The problem can be solved in different ways: from replacing seals to insulating radiators with foil.
But what to do with glass, through which a third of the heat escapes?
In this case, regular cling film can be a great solution. Regardless of the type of window, the film will create a “third glass” effect, adding an additional barrier between the street and the apartment. The main thing is to stick the film correctly, avoiding its contact with the glass. It is best to attach it to the frame or glazing bead.
How to stick the film correctly:
1. Stick double-sided tape around the perimeter of the window.
2. Straighten the film from top to bottom, sticking it to the tape.
3. Stretch the film so that it is elastic and invisible.
4. Fix the opposite edge to the frame, avoiding contact of the film with the glass.
5. Heat the film with a hair dryer to make it smooth.
6. Carefully trim off the excess edges with a utility knife.
This method will help raise the room temperature by 2–3 °C and reduce heating costs. The air pocket between the window and the film will prevent cold from penetrating, condensation from accumulating, and mold from forming.
