The pace of mobilization in Ukraine has fallen: what is proposed in the Rada

Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Roman Kostenko reported that mobilization rates have now declined in Ukraine.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to the TV channel “Typical Ukraine”.

He claims that the situation has worsened compared to previous months – against the backdrop of a surge after the adoption of the law on increasing mobilization in the spring of 2024.

He notes that the state and the Ministry of Defense have problems with communication on the topic of mobilization. At the same time, he believes that there is no need to be embarrassed to say that the pace of mobilization has slowed down. On the contrary, this must be acknowledged and solutions must be sought.

“We need to take measures. They may sound radical, cardinal to someone. We must understand that it is very difficult to maintain (the level of mobilization) at this pace. It is necessary for the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the Minister to take responsibility, ask the MPs and (together implement) various methods,” Kostenko is sure.

In his opinion, this could be, in particular, motivation, lowering the draft age, motivating various categories of the population to serve on a contract basis.

“If we continue at this pace (carrying out mobilization), simply letting it slide, then our mobilization will soon go into the negative. And if Russia carries out mobilization, then I don't know what they will do,” Kostenko said.

At the same time, the MP insists that Ukraine, one way or another, change its approaches to mobilization. Because problems then surface on the battlefield.

“This is what we need to pay attention to” recruitment of people, the right ones, not just anyone. The biggest problem is – we recruit everyone, we have a large army, but there is no one on the battlefield, because we recruit a limited number of worthy people,” Kostenko said.

It also became known what will change in the mobilization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from October 1: the media found out who will be called up.
