Candidate for President of the United States US President Donald Trump has declined an invitation to an interview with CBS News.

URA-Inform reports this with reference to the American publication Axios.

In particular, journalists wanted to talk to both candidates for the top post in the country at the same time. At the same time, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris agreed to talk.

Now US Vice President Kamala Harris will appear on the interview program “60 Minutes”, which is scheduled for October 7. Despite Trump's refusal – the invitation is open. CBS News reported that the former president initially agreed, but then declined.

“There were discussions, but nothing was scheduled or confirmed. They insisted on cutting the interview for fact-checking,” Trump campaign communications director Stephen Cheng said.

The people added that the Harris and Trump campaigns agreed to appear on “60 Minutes” this year. Vice President Kamala Harris will speak with correspondent Bill Whitaker. After initially agreeing to interview Scott Pelley, former President Trump's campaign decided to back out. Pelley will speak Monday night, a spokesperson for the show said.

The agreement was for each candidate to get two segments on the show (equal time each – half the time). Minnesota Gov. Tim Volz is also expected to appear with Kamala Harris – her replacement if Harris is elected president.

Earlier it was also reported whether there will be a second round of debates between Trump and Harris: the politicians' plans have been revealed.
