In particular, journalist Vladimir Boyko stated in his message that the battalion commander of the 86th battalion of the 123rd brigade of the Troops committed suicide after his soldiers refused to follow orders and fled their positions near Ugledar.

“On October 4, 2024, in Pervomaysk, Nikolaev region, they said goodbye to the commander of the 186th separate battalion of the 123rd separate brigade of the Troops, Lieutenant Colonel Igor Grib. The 33-year-old battalion commander shot himself on October 2 after his battalion fled from its positions near Ugledar”, as a result of which the city was lost, the journalist wrote.

At the same time, “Public”, citing military sources, reported that the preliminary cause of Igor Grib's death was suicide, committed at a command and observation post during a combat mission in the Ugledar direction. One of the soldiers told journalists that a few days before his death, the battalion commander gathered all his soldiers and said that two crews should enter their combat positions.

“We must be there permanently. He said that we will pass a checkpoint through which we will not be able to exit. Two crews will enter, if they lie down, then two more will enter in their place, if they lie down, then there will be no one else to enter. The battalion commander said that we have a night to live through this and think about what decision we will make, the soldier said.

After this conversation, according to the soldier, some of the soldiers left the unit without permission, while others “packed up and went further, hoping that something would change and the brigade would be taken away.” A few days later, information appeared that Igor Hryb had committed suicide.

According to the brigade, the circumstances of Igor Hryb's death are being investigated and an official investigation is being conducted.

It was also previously reported that hundreds of soldiers who left their unit in Donbas without permission went out to protest, – Suspilne.
