The Ukrainian armed forces continue their operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to ISW.
Analysts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted that the situation in the region is dynamic, which is explained by continuous attacks from both sides. According to analysts, Ukrainian forces continued ground attacks in the Glushkovsky district west of the main Ukrainian action in the Kursk region on October 5, but did not achieve confirmed success.
Russian mibloggers claimed on October 4 that Russian forces had repulsed Medvezhye (southeast of Glushkovo), but ISW found no evidence to support these claims. Ukrainian forces attacked southwest of Glushkovo in the area of Veseloye and Novy Put, and southeast of Glushkovo in the area of Medvezhye.
Units of the Russian 83rd Separate Guards Airborne Brigade are reported to be operating in the Glushkovsky district. Units of the Russian 106th Guards Airborne Division, 56th Regiment (7th Airborne Division), and 1427th Motorized Rifle Regiment (Territorial Forces) are also reported to be operating near Medvezhye.
According to ISW, Russian forces have recently advanced in the main Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region amid the fighting of October 5. Geolocation footage released on September 30 shows Russian forces recently advancing in a platoon-sized mechanized attack southeast of Obukhovka (southeast of Kornevo).
Ukrainian forces have attacked southeast of Korenevo in the direction of Lyubimovka and Obukhovka; north of Sudzha in the direction of Kamyshevka and southeast of Sudzha in the Plekhovo area. It is reported that units of the Russian 155th Marine Brigade (Pacific Fleet, Eastern Military District) are operating in the Obukhovka area.
