“Daggers” over Kyiv: experts tell where the Russians were aiming

On Monday, October 7, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with three Kinzhals. Several of them were shot down by air defense over Kiev.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Defense Express.

Defense Express noted that the fact that two Kinzhals were shot down over Kiev indicates that they can be shot down during the flight. It is also known that one of the missiles hit the Starokostiantyniv airfield in the Khmelnytsky region. This was probably the Russians' main target.

According to Defence Express calculations, the Russians actually launch the Kinzhals in such a way that they fly over Kiev. That is why Kiev residents can hear the sound wave from them, and sometimes the work of the air defense.

Experts clarified: that is why, if the Russians launched the Kinzhal from the Tambov region to Starokonstantinov, it would have a straight trajectory through Kyiv and its environs.

And from this we can conclude that the air defense systems that protect the capital and have anti-missile systems can shoot down the Kinzhals. In particular, this can be done by the Patriot air defense system – the Air Force reported this earlier.

But then the Patriot shot down the Kinzhal during its approach to the target. Yesterday's case is unique in that the missile was shot down during the cruising phase of its flight. The difference between these cases is quite significant.

“When the Kinzhal falls on the target, its speed is no longer hypersonic. But during the cruising phase, it just exceeds Mach 5,” – experts explained.

At the same time, the Russians previously stated that their “Dagger” allegedly has the ability to maneuver along the entire flight path. And thanks to this, it can allegedly bypass potential missile defense areas. However, despite these statements, the Russians stubbornly plot their route in the Kyiv region.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces began to prepare the Dnipropetrovsk region for defense: what is already known.
