Dried fruits – This is a valuable product that can be used in baking, taken with you as a healthy snack or cooked into compotes.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Ukr.media.

They are sold both in sealed packages and by weight, but in any case, they must be thoroughly washed before use. Simply rinsing with water is not enough, as dried fruits are treated with sulfur dioxide to increase shelf life and glycerin to give an attractive appearance.

< p>Manufacturers openly admit to treating fruits with such substances. Although they are not considered hazardous to health, sulfur dioxide can cause allergic reactions in some people.

Experts recommend two proven methods for properly cleaning dried fruits to remove not only dust and bacteria, but also chemicals.

The first method is soaking. Leave the dried fruits in water at about 50°C for 40 minutes, then drain the water and rinse them under running water.

The second method is scalding with boiling water. Pour hot water over the fruits, then dry them on a paper towel. This method is especially effective for home-made or bulk-bought dried fruits.
