Ukrainian Club Analyst agricultural business Maksym Gopka reported that already this winter in Ukrainian supermarkets potatoes could cost 50-55 UAH per kilogram.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Nrcu.
According to him, onions and winter apple varieties will also become more expensive.
« ;This (ed. – high prices) was caused primarily by drought and hard soil, which prevented some regions from harvesting the crops in full. There are enough onions on the market now. The supply of carrots will fluctuate between onions and potatoes. But we are also expecting higher taxes, therefore, unfortunately, there will not be any significant reduction in prices,” noted Maxim Gopka.
According to him, today the average price of potatoes on the wholesale market reaches approximately 19-22 UAH per kilogram, in supermarkets it already costs in the range of 30-35 UAH, and this is only the first half October.
According to the analyst, prices for winter apple varieties will increase for two reasons:
«The first is that we export quite a lot of apples abroad and , apparently, there is some increased demand in foreign markets. And the second is storage. Apple storage technologies are somewhat more complex and require additional costs».
