In Lithuania on “Dragon's teeth” have been installed on the bridge over the Neman River, which leads to Russia's Kaliningrad Region.
URA-Inform reports this with reference to Laurynas Kasciunas.
Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kaščiūnas noted that the Lithuanian military is currently testing them, assessing their ability to hold back heavy equipment. According to him, in the future the bridge will be additionally reinforced with iron beams.
“The fortifications are going according to plan. Some bridges will be reinforced, others will be prepared for explosion (only after receiving intelligence data). Physical fortifications (anti-tank hedgehogs, “dragon's teeth”) are only auxiliary and will be covered by firepower. If the enemy is stopped, he will be destroyed,” the minister emphasized.
It is worth noting that earlier, namely on October 7, the press service of the Lithuanian Armed Forces reported that the international exercises “Iron Wolf 2024-II” were starting in the country. More than 3,200 Lithuanian and allied soldiers with 700 units of military equipment are taking part in them.
“During these exercises, we will teach servicemen of the NATO Forward Troops Battalion Battle Group and the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Infantry Battalion to plan and conduct offensive and defensive operations day and night, interacting with each other and combining combat support and supply units,” — noted the commander, Colonel Aurelius Motiejunas.
It is reported that allies from Belgium, the Czech Republic, the United States of America, Luxembourg and Germany are taking part in the exercises.
Meanwhile, in the Kharkiv region, the mandatory evacuation zone has been expanded: which settlements have been added.
