Warmth to return to Ukraine after cold snap: when to expect “Indian summer”

After five months of meteorological summer, real autumn has finally arrived in Ukraine.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Obozrevatel.

In a number of regions, rains have begun, and temperatures have dropped. The head of the agrometeorology department of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, Tatyana Adamenko, noted that the thermometer will continue to gradually decrease throughout the week, right up until the weekend of October 19-20.

Ground frosts are expected in the west of the country. However, in a week, Ukrainians will be able to enjoy relative warmth again, when the temperature partially returns to its previous values. This warming can be called “Indian summer”.

According to her, warming is expected throughout the country:

«Warm air should come in, the temperature should rise by 3-6 degrees. This forecast needs to be updated with short-term forecasts, but such a trend exists. For example, in Kyiv: if +10 degrees is predicted in the capital on October 17 during the day, then on October 21 it will already be +14 degrees».

At the same time, the forecaster emphasized that such temperatures are normal for October, especially for the second half of autumn.

«Can this warming be called «Indian summer»? Only partly. Not yet, but on October 14 there will be a new refinement of the model, and then we can see. The territory of Ukraine is heterogeneous, conditions are different everywhere. For example, frosts are predicted in the west, there will be a significant cold snap, +4 … +6 degrees during the day, and then if on October 20 it is +15 … +20 degrees, then it will already be “Indian summer”. In the eastern regions, frosts are not yet predicted and there is no intense cold snap either. This means that there will be no “Indian summer” there, – the forecaster explained.

Recall that it was previously reported what winter will be like in Ukraine: Ptukha told what kind of weather to expect.
