The coming winter in Ukraine may be unusually warm.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Vera Balabukh.

Head of the Department of Applied Meteorology and Climatology of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute Vera Balabukh explained that this is due to the formation of a powerful anticyclone in the Atlantic, which will push warm air from the subtropics towards Ukraine.

According to the expert, the average air temperature in winter will be 1-2°C above normal, fluctuating between +5 and -5°C. Vera Balabukh noted that in recent decades, the trend has been toward higher temperatures in winter. This is especially evident in January, when the figures approach those typical for November.

According to Vera Balabukh's forecasts, this year's winter could be as warm as last year. Despite the general warming trend, the forecaster warned of the possibility of short-term Arctic invasions, which could cause two or three days of significant frost. However, according to her, winter could be as warm as last year.

Balabukh noted that although most days will have temperatures between -5 and +5 degrees, climatic factors indicate the possibility of periodic cold periods. A representative of the hydrometeorological institute noted that, in general, forecasters expect that the winter in our country will be relatively mild with moderate temperatures prevailing.

Also, after the cold snap, warm weather will come to Ukraine again: the forecaster told when to expect an “Indian summer”.
