Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky could have been dismissed from his post on the initiative of the Office of the President.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Forbes.
However, after the start of the operation of the Defense Forces in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, these plans were put on hold. As reported by Forbes Ukraine, citing sources in the “defense sector of power,” the authorities in Syrsky were not happy with the fact that the general allegedly “has a cool attitude” to the development of UAVs in the army.
«The idea of creating the Unmanned Systems Forces belonged to President Volodymyr Zelensky, not Syrsky, and they were headed by General Vadym Sukharevsky. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine considers him a competitor, claims a source close to the top of the Unmanned Systems Forces. However, Sukharevsky himself does not intend to lead the Ukrainian Armed Forces, — a Forbes source notes.
The difficult relationship between the General Staff and Sukharevsky allegedly worsened after the scandalous Roman Gladky was appointed Chief of Staff of the Unmanned Systems Forces. His appointment, as sources note, was not the idea of Sukharevsky, who “had never laid eyes on him.” At the same time, he proposed his candidates to the General Staff, but they were not approved.
Relations between the General Staff and the Unmanned Systems Forces “warmed” after Sukharevsky asked Zelensky to raise the issue of the slow creation of the UFS at Headquarters, after which the head of state signed a law on the official creation of the branch of the armed forces.
And the tension between Zelensky and Syrsky disappeared after the start of the operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. Therefore, now, according to an interlocutor in the defense sector, “no one will touch” Syrsky.
Information also appeared earlier about whether they were going to replace Syrsky after the failures at the front: an insider revealed the authorities' plans.
