Ukrainian MPs expressed concern about possible strikes on the country's critical infrastructure and stressed the need to strengthen international monitoring. In an official statement, the Verkhovna Rada press service noted that Ukraine highly appreciates the courageous and consistent actions of the IAEA in ensuring security against the backdrop of Russia's armed aggression.

In the context of increased risks, the Committee asked the organization's leadership to consider the possibility of a permanent presence of international experts at key Ukrainian facilities – from nuclear power plants to energy substations.

“The support and continuous supervision of IAEA experts will be a critical step in strengthening energy and nuclear security in the face of a military threat,” the statement says.

The press service emphasized that large-scale attacks using drones and missiles pose a risk to the country's nuclear facilities. In particular, the Committee recalled that Russian kamikaze drones “Shahed” repeatedly crossed the airspace near nuclear power plants, which indicates possible intentions of Russia to strike nuclear infrastructure facilities.

According to the statement of the company “Energoatom”, such incidents have become more frequent, which may indicate the preparation of provocations or targeted attacks on nuclear power plants and other important facilities of the energy system of Ukraine.

Against this background, Russian troops began to advance in the Zaporizhia region, as a result of which one settlement was captured.
