Scientists from The University of Illinois at Chicago conducted a study examining the life expectancy of people in different regions of the world, including Australia, Hong Kong, France and Spain.

< p>The study found that the growth in life expectancy has slowed in recent years. While in the 1990s it was predicted that many newborns would live to 100, current data does not support a significant increase in this figure.
An interesting discovery It is that life expectancy differs by gender. For example, newborn girls have a 5.3% chance of living to 100 years, while for boys this figure is 1.8%. Children born in Hong Kong have the highest chance of reaching the age of 100, with 12.8% of girls and 4.4% of boys.
Professor Stuart Olshansky, who led the study, stressed that care health plays a key role in slowing down ageing and prolonging active life. At the same time, according to Eurostat, Malta leads the EU in terms of healthy ageing. Women in Malta can expect 70 years and 3 months of healthy life, while men can expect 70 years and 1 month. The country has high availability of medical services, which reduces the likelihood of chronic diseases among the elderly.
