Transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine: Germany makes a loud statement

Chapter opposition party Christian Democratic Union Friedrich Merz has spoken out in favor of transferring German Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.

URA-Inform reports this with reference to Friedrich Merz.

He stated that the provision of these weapons is necessary if Moscow does not stop shelling Ukrainian territories. At the same time, the politician emphasized that the process of transferring Taurus missiles to Ukraine should be gradual.

“First, an ultimatum should be given to the Russian authorities, and if the shelling continues, the restriction on the use of long-range weapons will first be lifted. The second step should be the direct transfer of Taurus cruise missiles to the Ukrainian military, which could probably be used to strike Russian territory,” explained Friedrich Merz.

It is worth noting that the transfer of cruise missiles is one of the items that Merz plans to implement along with other defense reforms if he heads the German government. This politician is also a supporter of a significant increase in defense spending and ensuring the independence of the German and European defense industry from the United States of America.

“Russia is currently arming itself to the point that in five to eight years it will be able to attack NATO territory,” he emphasized.

It should be noted that the issue of transferring Taurus cruise missiles to the Ukrainian military has long been ignored by the current government of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who, according to Friedrich Merz, lacks a strategic vision of policy options regarding Ukraine.

It also became known whether Putin is ready to talk to Scholz: an unexpected statement from the Kremlin.
