China Wants to Be a Mediator Between Ukraine and Russia: Welt Reveals Beijing's Plans

As China becomes increasingly aggressive toward Taiwan, it calls for dialogue in the Middle East and presents a so-called “peace plan” for Ukraine.

This was reported by “URA-Inform” with reference to Welt.

There is a completely different goal behind the mediation, as China wants to become the most powerful state instead of the United States. As the publication notes, China has avoided involvement in international conflicts for some time. However, Beijing is now increasingly calling for peace talks in the wars in the Middle East and Ukraine – while the situation in the conflict with Taiwan continues to escalate.

During large-scale military exercises earlier this week, they surrounded Taiwan and broke into its waters and airspace several times. The day before, a Chinese aircraft carrier was spotted in the south of the island – despite an explicit warning from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken against “provocative” measures against Taiwan.

Since the summer of 2022, the international community has watched as China regularly crosses internationally recognized borders to assert its self-declared territorial claims in the South China Sea. Beijing is also increasingly challenging the Western-dominated world order outside the region.

China wants to replace the United States as the world’s most powerful country by 2049. These achievements show China’s newfound self-confidence, but China’s plan often still has limits. On the international stage, China is increasingly positioning itself as a peace broker. At the UN General Assembly in New York in September, Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently promoted China’s “peace initiative” for Ukraine. It was presented in May jointly with Brazil and is supported by Russia.

The latter shows that China is not a neutral broker. The document does not mention Ukraine’s territorial integrity or the withdrawal of Russian troops, as called for in Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s 10-point peace plan. China and Russia enjoy deep friendship and economic cooperation. The US and NATO also call China a “proxy agent” for Russia, as it supplies Russia with equipment and tools for the military industry.

In addition, China's increasingly aggressive behavior towards Taiwan raises doubts about the veracity of China's peace plan. But Beijing's role as a mediator is not really about establishing peace, but about expanding its position as a major player in geopolitics.

Meanwhile, the West is openly demanding that Zelensky negotiate with Russia: an insider has revealed what is happening.
