NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Ukraine will eventually become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Bloomberg.

In particular, he noted that Ukraine will likely be next in line to join the Alliance, which currently includes 32 countries. According to the official, Ukraine's accession to NATO is only a matter of time.

“Ukraine will become a member of NATO in the future, we decided this in Washington. It's a question of timing,” Rutte said.

According to Rutte, Ukraine will soon join the Alliance. At the same time, the official did not rule out that another country could “jump out” ahead of Kyiv. The allies are currently focused on efforts that “build a bridge to Ukraine's membership in the Alliance.”

“Therefore, if there is a specific question of “When?”, I cannot answer it now, at this moment. However, we are working on all these areas so that they actually become a member of NATO one day,” — added Rutte, commenting on the specific timing of Ukraine's accession to NATO.

Rutte also noted that President Volodymyr Zelensky can count on NATO's continued support to put his country in a strong position ahead of potential negotiations with Russia to end the war.

It also became known about Ukraine's accession to NATO: Rutte named the condition.
