President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky came up with an initiative, proposing that countries prepare military brigades for the rotation of Ukrainian troops on the battlefield.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Politika Strany.
Such a statement was made during his joint briefing with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
“Our message to all countries: prepare brigades. They can become a reserve and replace our guys who are tired,” Zelensky emphasized, emphasizing the need for support in the context of a protracted war.
These words caused a strong reaction both among Ukraine's international allies and in expert circles discussing the possibility of direct military participation of NATO in the conflict with Russia.
Despite close cooperation with Ukraine, the Alliance countries have repeatedly emphasized that they are not ready to introduce their troops into the combat zone until the end of the war. The main argument is to avoid direct escalation with Russia, which could lead to uncontrollable consequences on the global stage.
The entry of NATO troops into Ukrainian territory contradicts the key principles of deterrence, analysts note. At the risk of being drawn into an open clash with a nuclear power, the Alliance continues to provide support in the form of weapons, financial assistance and military training, but without sending soldiers to the front lines.
The only exception in public statements on this topic was made by French President Emmanuel Macron, who suggested at the beginning of the year that French troops could go to Ukraine under certain conditions. However, this idea was not supported by key allies, including the United States, which maintains a tough position of non-intervention in hostilities.
In addition, the authorities are also considering the possibility of prohibiting Ukrainians from replenishing other people's cards using a terminal.
