Brazilian President Lula Marks Trip to Putin for BRICS Summit: What Happened

< p>The official reason is health problems. CNN Brasil journalists cite a medical bulletin stating that Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva suffered a head injury, namely a “blunt cut wound in the occipital region”.

The media added that the team that served the president recommended that he not take long-haul flights. Thus, the trip to Kazan was cancelled. Lula da Silva remains under the supervision of a medical team.

In the meantime, he has been cleared to carry out other daily tasks, so the Brazilian president will join the BRICS summit online.

«Due to injury, Lula will not go to the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia. The head of the executive committee will take participation in the meeting via video conference. He was supposed to board the plane this Sunday at five o'clock in the evening,” the official statement said.

The Serbian president also called Putin: it became known what proposal arose.
