Pete Mackenzie Hodge, a father and former drummer from Manchester, has had two close calls and is now sharing his near-death experiences.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Dialog.

The first incident occurred in 2008, when Pete had just graduated from university. The 22-year-old was suddenly diagnosed with bone cancer.

“It was a bolt from the blue. I was young, playing drums and football, and now this is happening,” Pete recalls.

After going through chemotherapy and surgery to replace his bones with titanium, Pete was once again brought to the brink of death when his body began rejecting the foreign material. In critical condition, he was forced to have his leg amputated to survive.

“I just didn't want to die. It was the only way to have a second chance at life,” Pete said.

But the ordeal didn’t end there. In 2020, during the pandemic, Pete faced another near-death experience, this time with a mysterious lung infection that led to pneumonia and sepsis. He was again in critical condition and also in a coma for 13 days. According to doctors, his survival can be considered a true miracle.

Pete recalled his mystical experiences, when it seemed like his soul was leaving his body:

“I cheated death twice. I will never forget what I saw in my last moments. I saw myself lying in a hospital bed and I felt my soul rise up. It was something magical, but not scary – it was acceptance, calm.”

After these events, Pete decided to write a book about his experiences and how it affected his life.
