London Defender Arsenal and the Ukrainian national team Oleksandr Zinchenko spoke about the conflict with the head coach of his former team Manchester City Pep Guardiola.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to The Guardian.
It is reported that the incident occurred during the Citizens' training session after an inaccurate pass by the Ukrainian. As The Guardian notes, Zinchenko learned that Guardiola never shouted, and his team talks during the break always contained positive reinforcement.
During one of the Citizens' training sessions, the footballer decided to get into an argument with his coach after the latter criticized his pass.
«Out loud I said, 'Mister! I just made one wrong pass, you know?' And his reaction was incredible,” Zinchenko writes in his book. “Oh, okay, sorry, sorry, Mister Zinchenko. Sorry,” Pep said. “Okay, guys, thanks, everyone inside.” And he went to the dressing room. Training is over, and all because I snapped. I knew I was in trouble,” — said the footballer.
Zinchenko was benched for the next game.
“Listen, first of all, I was wrong,” he admits now. “I understood right away, but it would have been stupid if I had gone straight to his office and apologized. It was before the game day, and I knew his head was busy with the game plan. But I apologized after the game,” Alexander added.
