Ukraine, how an independent state for more than 30 years, has gone through many difficult stages.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Telegraf.
During the presidency of Vladimir Zelensky, the country faced, perhaps the most difficult period – a full-scale war with Russia. But before him, Ukraine had five more presidents, who were also young and ambitious in their time.
Leonid Kravchuk, the first president of Ukraine, served from 1991 to 1994.
He was succeeded by Leonid Kuchma, who remains the only president of Ukraine to be re-elected for a second consecutive term (1994–2005).
Viktor Yushchenko became the third president in 2005, the first head of state to dissolve the Verkhovna Rada and call early elections.
Viktor Yanukovych, who came to power in 2010, was forced to flee the country in 2014 after mass protests on Euromaidan.
In 2014, Petro Poroshenko became the only president who won the elections in all regions of the country.
In 2019, Volodymyr Zelensky became the sixth president of the country. His term included a full-scale war with Russia. Zelensky is still actively negotiating with Western allies on the supply of equipment and weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to strengthen the country's defense.
