Samsung Ditches Galaxy Brand: Reason Revealed

Samsung may refuse line of Galaxy smartphones in favor of a new brand, which, although unexpected, may be a necessary step for the company.

According to insider Jukanlosreve on X, the company is considering rebranding its flagship line, including the Galaxy Z and Galaxy S models.

Currently, there are five lines of smartphones released under the Galaxy brand — Z, S, A, M and F — with flagships in the Z and S segments, as well as tablets, headphones and wearables. However, younger audiences may feel that the variety of devices in the Galaxy lineup diminishes the status of its flagships, especially when compared to the iPhone.

According to data from E-Today, Samsung is considering the move amid declining sales of foldables like the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 and criticism for a lack of innovation, despite Apple's lack of such devices. An industry official noted that the company understands the need for a new brand, and its launch is likely.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to launch as early as January next year under the existing name, but future S and Z series devices are likely , will be presented under a new brand.
