European Commission urges EU citizens to prepare for emergencies: what is known

European Commission calls on citizens of EU countries to prepare stocks of food, medicine and essential supplies in case of emergencies.

In a new report, prepared by former Finnish President Sauli Niinistö, stresses the need to create reserves for the winter in the face of a possible escalation of the international situation due to Russia's war against Ukraine.

 The report proposes measures to ensure security in the event of a military threat and other crises. European households It is recommended to have strategic stocks of food, drinking water, medicines, flashlights and battery-powered radios.

The European Commission emphasizes that the EU's preparedness must be more effective to avoid the mistakes revealed during the COVID-19 pandemic against the backdrop of Russian aggression.

Member states are also encouraged to develop instructions for citizens on creating food reserves, evacuation and access to emergency services. The authors of the report emphasize that although the threat does not come only from Russia, it remains the main factor influencing European security, and any aggressive action against one of the EU states will affect the entire Union.
