Former State Department official David Tafuri said that sending North Korean troops to Russia confirms the West's fears: rogue states such as North Korea, Iran and Syria are ready to actively support the Kremlin in the war.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to 24tv.

According to him, Syria, Iran and China may send their troops to Ukraine to fight on the side of the Russians.

«We should be concerned that there are several other countries that are on Russia's side, including Iran, Syria, China, and they can help meet the need for people to go to Ukraine,— Tafuri said.

He noted that given Russia's significant losses at the front, North Korea is helping to fill the personnel gap.

«The real impact from a strategic point of view is probably not that significant. However, this does not mean that the DPRK does not have a combat-ready army, but it provides additional troops,» Tafuri said.

In addition, Kim Jong-un satisfies Vladimir Putin's need to show the world that Moscow has allies. In addition, the former official added, the DPRK may also provide the Russians with some components and things necessary to support the work of the military-industrial complex.

It also became known what the DPRK may receive from the Russian Federation in exchange for the military: an explanation from South Korean intelligence.
