Will Trump be able to force Ukraine to give up territories for the sake of peace: Zelensky's response

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a harsh statement against US presidential candidate Donald Trump, who has previously repeatedly stated his intention to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

This was reported by URA-Inform, citing Zelensky's interview with the South Korean TV channel KBS.

According to Zelensky, forcing Ukraine to make territorial concessions is unacceptable and will not lead to peace. Instead, he stressed that the future US president can play a key role in resolving the conflict, but only on condition of increased support for Ukraine.

Zelensky emphasized that the resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine depends on the political course of the United States.

“The future US president can either increase support or weaken it,” Zelensky said, explaining that weakening support could allow Russia to expand its occupation of Ukrainian territory, which would seriously complicate Ukraine’s chances of victory.

He noted that such scenarios will not lead to a peaceful settlement, but will only worsen the situation on the battlefield.

According to the President of Ukraine, only increased cooperation with Washington can create conditions for diplomatic solutions that will not undermine the country's territorial integrity.

Zelensky also added that Ukraine does not intend to compromise to the detriment of its interests.

“This is not about compromises and territories, but about support and actions that will lead to a real settlement of the conflict,” Zelensky explained.

He stressed that if the new US president continues to look for ways to quickly resolve the conflict, this should be based on a policy that does not weaken support for Ukraine and should focus on real steps towards peace.

Recalling Donald Trump's statement, Zelensky noted that he declared himself to be a “man of action”, capable of ending the war quickly and offering a “model” for a peaceful settlement. However, the Ukrainian president expressed doubts that this model could include territorial concessions.

“If Trump wins and tries to force Ukraine to give up everything for the sake of an agreement with Russia, this will be unacceptable for Ukraine,” Zelensky emphasized.

In his opinion, a peaceful settlement should be based on respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence, and any attempts to force the country to make concessions will only worsen the situation and undermine the possibility of long-term peace.

In conclusion, Zelensky called for increased support for Ukraine from the United States and warned that weakening this support could jeopardize the country’s sovereignty. He stressed that the diplomatic path is possible, but only on the condition of a decisive partnership with the United States and continued active assistance to Ukraine.

Against this background, Vucic told how Putin responded to the question of a ceasefire in Ukraine.
