How events in Ukraine may develop after the US elections: BBC names three scenarios

British journalists presented three possible scenarios for the development of events for Russia's war against Ukraine after the US elections, which will take place next week.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to the BBC.

According to BBC analysts, any outcome of these elections will have a significant impact on the course of the conflict.

First option— The US could pressure Ukraine to freeze the war along the current front lines, which would leave some regions, such as the Zaporizhia region, divided, like Korea in the 1950s, when a ceasefire led to permanent division.

The second scenario would involve the US cutting off support for Ukraine entirely, which could give Russia an opportunity to seize new territory.

The third option, which journalists consider the least likely, is that Ukraine would fully regain control of its borders.

The authors of the article note that the uncertainty about the policy of the incoming U.S. administration is undermining ambitions on the battlefield and complicating political efforts to obtain additional assistance. Western allies often look to Washington’s actions and then decide whether to support Ukraine’s military efforts.

«Since voting overwhelmingly for independence during the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine has had to fight for its sovereignty. It finds itself on the edge of a geopolitical tectonic plate, trying to align itself with the West while Russia pulls it in the other direction. Moscow’s full-scale invasion means Ukraine needs America’s help to prevent it from breaking apart», — the author of the material notes.

Recall that it was previously reported how the war in Ukraine might end: a forecast by a retired US lieutenant colonel.
