The nutritionist told how much caffeine is contained in an average cup of tea and coffee.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Ukr.media.

She noted that green and black tea also contain caffeine , but in smaller doses compared to coffee: on average, a cup of green tea contains about 29 mg of caffeine, while a cup of coffee contains about 133 mg, and black tea contains about 47 mg.

The concentration of caffeine in green tea depends on several factors:

Tea variety: some types, such as Japanese matcha, contain more caffeine.

Brewing time and temperature: the longer and hotter the tea is brewed, the more caffeine will be in the drink.

Leaves to water ratio: more leaves will increase the caffeine content.

Expert emphasized that although green tea contains less caffeine, its effect on alertness is enhanced by L-theanine, an amino acid that works in concert with caffeine to provide a gentle energy boost without jitters.

This moderate level of caffeine helps maintain alertness, without overloading the body, which is especially convenient for those who want to reduce their caffeine intake. Like coffee, green tea is recommended to be drunk in the first half of the day or choose decaffeinated options for evening consumption.
