City streets in autumn are covered with chestnuts, and many people are actively collecting them.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to 24tv.
If you have noticed that someone is collecting chestnuts whole kilograms, then it is probably not for the sake of handicrafts, but for earning money. Chestnuts are accepted as secondary raw materials at special processing points, where you can get 1-2 hryvnia per kilogram, and on Internet sites their price reaches 10 hryvnia.
But what are such volumes of chestnuts needed for? These fruits are used not only in handicrafts, but also in various industries, including pharmaceuticals and cosmetology. Their extracts are added to creams and ointments to maintain vascular health, and significant quantities of Ukrainian chestnuts are even exported to Europe. In particular, Ukraine previously sent up to 200 tons of chestnuts abroad annually.
Here are some ways to use processed chestnuts:
Animal feed
Due to their high protein and fat content, chestnuts are superior in nutritional value to wheat and corn. One kilogram of chestnuts contains about 5 grams of calcium and 40 grams of protein, making them suitable for feed for various types of livestock and poultry.
Pharmaceuticals
Chestnut extracts have a positive effect on blood circulation, helping to dilate arteries, accelerate blood flow and strengthen capillaries. These properties are used in drugs for the treatment of vascular diseases, as well as for the removal of bruises and contusions.
Cosmetology
Chestnut extract helps to maintain the freshness of the skin, reduces blood stagnation, helps to reduce hair loss and protects against the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays.
Thus, chestnuts are not just an autumn attribute, but also a valuable resource for various production areas.
Recall that it was previously reported why drivers should eat a slice of lemon before long trips: the answer will surprise many.
