Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky named the goal of the operation in the Kursk region and announced the losses of the Russians.

This was reported by “URA-Inform” with reference to Alexander Syrsky.

According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive in the Kursk region in August of this year was launched in order to disrupt Russia's plan to attack the Sumy region to create a so-called “buffer zone” in the northern direction.

He noted that in May of this year, intelligence confirmed the enemy's plan to attack the Sumy direction, and this was supposed to be a continuation of the Russian operation in the Kharkov direction.

“That is why a decision was made to conduct an offensive operation ahead of the curve with the transfer of hostilities to enemy territory in the Kursk region,” Syrsky emphasized.

The Commander-in-Chief noted that the invaders planned to seize more territory in the north of Ukraine in the Sumy region. However, the Ukrainian Defense Forces took a preventive step and continue to destroy the enemy on its territory.

Thus, as of November 5, the losses of the occupiers in the Kursk direction in personnel amount to 20,842 people. Also during this period, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 1,101 units of weapons and military equipment of the Russians.

“Now Russia is trying to get Ukrainian troops to leave this territory. The enemy has concentrated about 45 thousand troops there and is trying to increase their number. The Russian Federation does not have enough of its own troops for this direction, so they are trying to attract troops from North Korea there,” — added the commander-in-chief.

It also became known that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are using special weapons in the Kursk region: Western media reported on them.
