Persimmon presented different varieties, each of which has a different taste and appearance.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Natalia Samoylenko.
In addition to the traditional eastern persimmon, the Sharon variety is popular. Nutritionist Natalia Samoylenko explained the differences between them and which berry to choose for health benefits.
According to the specialist, such berries are real hits of the season. The main difference is insignificant: both fruits have a rich orange color due to carotenoids and are a good source of fiber, vitamins and microelements.
The Sharon variety is usually larger, resembles an apple or quince and contains slightly more sugar, which gives it a sweet taste. Unlike Sharon, persimmon has a slight tartness that not everyone likes . The sugar content in persimmon is also high, but slightly lower than in sharon.
The nutritionist advises eating persimmon and sharon daily, preferably in the first half of the day. It is also important to choose fruits of medium softness: too hard ones are likely to not ripe, but overripe, softened fruits, although sweet, lose their shape. The ideal option would be a fruit that slightly yields when pressed.
