Florists named a simple way to preserve beauty bouquets longer.

This was reported by “URA-Inform” with reference to Aktualno.

As it turns out, regular aspirin, known as a remedy for headaches, can become a “longevity elixir” for cut flowers. This unusual way to prolong the life of plants is actively used by florists and hobbyists.

Why does aspirin help flowers?

The effect is associated with acetylsalicylic acid, the active substance of aspirin, which has the following beneficial effects:

Antibacterial action

Aspirin reduces the acidity of water, slowing the growth of bacteria that often cause flowers to wilt by clogging their stems.

Ethylene control

Aspirin stimulates the production of ethylene, a hormone that regulates aging. In small doses, it activates the protective reactions of plants, prolonging their freshness.

How to use aspirin correctly?

For best results, follow these guidelines:

1. Solution: Dissolve an aspirin tablet (325 mg) in a liter of warm water, then use this solution in a vase with cool water.

2. Refreshing the cut: Before placing flowers, refresh the cuts at a 45-degree angle to improve water absorption.

3. Removing the leaves: Remove the leaves below the water level to avoid their decomposition.

Which flowers respond best to aspirin?

The most suitable are roses, chrysanthemums, carnations and lilies. However, tulips may not tolerate aspirin – this method may be harmful to them.

Recall that earlier it was reported how to quickly check if an egg is fresh without breaking it: a simple method was named.
